Upfronts Week 2019: CBS

Dopo NBC, FOX ed ABC, ieri è toccato al network generalista CBS presentare il palinsesto per la prossima stagione tv 2019/2020.

Ovviamente il canale più seguito d'America è alla ricerca del nuovo Big Bang Theory, che si concluderà definitivamente con l'episodio in onda proprio questa sera; sarà forse la nuova comedy di Chuck Lorre, Bob Hearts Abishola, a sostituirla nel cuore dei fan? Tra le altre novità, il drama legale All Rise, FBI: Most Wanted (spin-off di FBI) di Dick Wolf con Julian McMahon, Evil dai creatori di The Good Wife Robert e Michelle King, Broke, con Pauley Perrette, Carol's Second Act  con Patricia Heaton, Tommy con Edie Falco, e The Unicorn.

Tra le variazioni, segnaliamo gli spostamenti di  Magnum P.I. , rinnovata per una seconda stagione, il venerdì sera con Hawaii Five-0 (causando lo slittamento di MacGyver in midseason), e  S.W.A.T. il mercoledì sera.

Rinnovata anche Madam Secretary per una sesta, ma purtroppo, ULTIMA stagione, composta da soli 10 episodi. Come sappiamo, sarà la stagione finale anche per Criminal Minds; per vederla, però, dovremo aspettare il 2020.

Cancellate, purtroppo, Elementary, Life in Pieces, Murphy Brown e anche Salvation. Ancora incerto, invece, il destino di The Code, Instinct  e The Red Line .

Segnaliamo, infine, che Sela Ward lascia il cast di FBI; la sua ultima apparizione nel ruolo dell'Agente  Dana Mosier è stato nel finale della prima, trasmesso martedì scorso su CBS.

LE NUOVE SERIE DRAMA IN ONDA IN AUTUNNO

ALL RISE

ALL RISE is a courthouse drama that follows the chaotic, hopeful and sometimes absurd lives of its judges, prosecutors and public defenders, as they work with bailiffs, clerks and cops to get justice for the people of Los Angeles amidst a flawed legal process. Among them is newly appointed Judge Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick), a highly regarded and impressive deputy district attorney who doesn't intend to sit back on the bench in her new role, but instead leans in, immediately pushing the boundaries and challenging the expectations of what a judge can be. Greg Spottiswood, Len Goldstein and Emmy Award winner Michael M. Robin are executive producers for Warner Bros. Television. Robin directed the pilot from a script by Spottiswood.

ALL RISE stars Simone Missick as Lola Carmichael, Wilson Bethel as Mark Callan, Marg Helgenberger as Judith Benner, Jessica Camacho as Emily Lopez, J. Alex Brinson as Luke Watkins, Lindsay Mendez as Sara Pratt and Ruthie Ann Miles as Sherri Kanski.

EVIL

EVIL is a psychological mystery that examines the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion. The series focuses on a skeptical female psychologist who joins a priest-in-training and a carpenter as they investigate the Church's backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions and hauntings. Their job is to assess if there is a logical explanation or if something truly supernatural is at work. Michelle King, Robert King and Liz Glotzer are executive producers for CBS Television Studios. Robert King directed the pilot.

EVIL stars Katja Herbers as Kristen Bouchard, Mike Colter as David Acosta, Aasif Mandvi as Ben Shroff, Michael Emerson as Leland Townsend, Brooklyn Shuck as Lynn Bouchard, Skylar Gray as Lila Bouchard, Maddy Crocco as Lexis Bouchard and Dalya Knapp as Laura Bouchard.

From award-winning creator, executive producer and writer Chuck Lorre, BOB (HEARTS) ABISHOLA is a love story about a middle-aged compression sock businessman from Detroit who unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse, a Nigerian immigrant, while recovering from a heart attack and sets his sights on winning her over. Undaunted by Abishola's (Folake Olowofoyeku) lack of initial interest or the vast differences in their backgrounds, Bob (Billy Gardell) is determined to win Abishola's heart, in this comedic examination of immigrant life in America. CAROL'S SECOND ACT

Emmy Award winner Patricia Heaton stars in CAROL'S SECOND ACT, a comedy about a woman who embarks on a unique second act after raising her children, getting divorced and retiring from teaching: pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor. At age 50, Carol is a medical intern and must sink or swim with peers who are half her age. It's her enthusiasm, perspective and yes, even her age, that may be exactly what will make her second act a great success. Emily Halpern, Sarah Haskins; Patricia Heaton, Adam Griffin, David Hunt and Rebecca Stay (Four Boys Entertainment); Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor (Kapital Entertainment); and Pamela Fryman (pilot only) are executive producers for CBS Television Studios. THE UNICORN



THE UNICORN is a single-camera comedy about a tight-knit group of best friends and family who helps Wade (Walton Goggins) embrace his "new normal" in the wake of the loss of his wife one year ago. As a sometimes ill-equipped but always devoted single parent to his two adolescent daughters, he is taking the major step of dating again. To Wade's amazement, he's a hot commodity with women, and his friends explain that he's the perfect single guy - a "unicorn": employed, attractive, and with a proven track record of commitment. FBI: MOST WANTED



From Emmy Award winner Dick Wolf and the team behind FBI and the "Law & Order" franchise, FBI: MOST WANTED is a high-stakes drama that focuses on the Fugitive Task Force, which relentlessly tracks and captures the notorious criminals on the Bureau's Most Wanted list. Seasoned agent Jess LaCroix (Julian McMahon) oversees the highly skilled team that functions as a mobile undercover unit that is always out in the field, pursuing those who are most desperate to elude justice. A true blue New Yorker, Abigail "Tommy" Thomas (Falco) uses her unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to keep social, political and national security issues from hindering effective law enforcement in the Southland. Equal parts political, procedural and family drama, TOMMY comes from Paul Attanasio, the creator of the acclaimed series BULL, "House M.D." and "Homicide: Life on the Street." Jaime Camil and Pauley Perrette star in BROKE, a comedy about Jackie (Perrette), a single suburban mother who's shocked when her estranged sister, Elizabeth (Natasha Leggero), her sister's outrageously wealthy, big-hearted husband, Javier (Camil), and Javier's fiercely loyal assistant/driver/friend, Luis (Izzy Diaz), land on her doorstep in need of a place to live after the couple's money dries up.
